Ordinary and sensationalism

In my third year BFA dissertation, I question the place of the ordinary in the media and artistic representations of contemporary society.

The role of sensationalism, whether as a message carrier, a profit-seeker or a whistleblower, fluctuates through its uses, with the risk of overdoing it in order to make a mark or stand out. While banality might seem antithetical to sensationalism, I question the ambivalence of the ordinary.
